The One Big Beautiful Bill Act: A Strategic Guide for Investors

Signed into law on July 4, 2025, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) is a comprehensive, 900-plus-page legislation that extends many of the expiring provisions from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), while introducing a variety of new provisions that can reshape the financial landscape for individuals, families, and businesses. Some OBBBA policies are effective immediately while others will come later.

This legislation presents both opportunities and challenges for investors, but its impact on your financial situation may vary depending on who you are and how you earn your income. Understanding the new law’s implications can help you make informed financial decisions and make the most out of the potential opportunities presented by the bill.

Don't be Fooled... It's a Scam!

Scammers are constantly finding new ways to steal your money, from blackmail to romance scams, to selling nonexistent items.  In some cases, scammers present themselves as friendly, sympathetic or helpful. While in other cases, scammers use fear tactics to persuade their victim into giving them what they want.

The Most Common Types of Scams:

  • Sweepstakes and lottery scams: You are led to believe you’ve won a prize but have to pay an advanced fee in order to collect winnings.
  • Romance scams: You have started a friendly conversation online that you believe has evolved into a romantic relationship, but the new love interest needs money to flee their country, pay medical bills, or pay taxes to receive an inheritance.
  • Cryptocurrency and gift card scams: You are asked to deposit money into a cryptocurrency or bitcoin ATM or are told that they need cash to purchase gift cards.
  • Government impersonation scams: You are contacted by someone indicating they represent a government agency such as the IRS, FBI, Social Security Administration, or Medicare. The fraudster indicates that something is wrong and that you need to take immediate action and send money. As a reminder, none of these government entities will contact you by phone.

How to Protect Yourself:

  • Be skeptical: Don't trust unsolicited offers or requests for money, especially if they seem too good to be true.
  • Verify information: Before providing personal information or sending money, verify the legitimacy of the organization or individual through official channels.
  • Don't share personal information: Avoid sharing sensitive information like passwords, account details, or social security numbers online or over the phone.
  • Be cautious of high-pressure sales tactics: Don't be rushed into making investment decisions or sending money.
  • Educate yourself: Stay informed about common scams and how to recognize them.
  • Report suspicious activity: If you suspect you've been targeted by a scam, report it to the appropriate authorities.
